IFP Cleans Up at Walkers Midshire Foods!
Integrated Food Projects has recently completed the delivery of a new food waste and water treatment facility at Walkers Midshire Foods in Leicester. WMF is part of Samworth Brothers who have production facilities in Leicestershire and Cornwall and for some years now have been actively taking steps to reduce the amount of discarded waste that is generated throughout their production processes.
WMF were incurring significant costs through the removal of waste which had to be transported by road to a rendering facility. This coupled with high waste water charges lead WMF to commission a study to investigate solutions for reducing both the amounts of waste produced and the associated costs of disposal.

WMF engaged IFP to carry out the initial study and manage the implementation of the plant. This was carried out along side a major expansion of its ham production facilities which IFP also project managed.
The equipment to provide the solution was selected from Dutch waste treatment specialist Nijhuis.
The objectives set by WMF have been achieved; waste tonnage removed from site has been reduced by up to 70 tonnes per week at peak time, waste water being discharged to the local drainage authority is now significantly below the consent levels for the COD and suspended solids limits set by the authority; the financial benefits achieved have resulted in savings which will deliver a payback on the project of less than 2 years. WMF will satisfy the targets set by Samworth Brothers for waste reduction.
If you are incurring significant costs through waste processing and disposal, Integrated Food Projects can help you reduce and in some cases remove these costs.
Also with emerging technologies, it is now possible to convert your waste into energy and other resources which in turn can generate further revenue.
